Maine Maritime Museum turned a messy, labor-intensive problem into a simple weekly routine with the Tow and Collect 1500 Pro – protecting presentation, safety, and precious nonprofit resources.
“We purchased the Tow and Collect 1500 Pro earlier this spring, and it has been an absolute game changer for us here.”
A long-time owner of the Tow and Collect Mini 700, Diane has been using the machine for over five years to clean her pastures with ease. In our latest video testimonial, Diane walks us through her manure management system — from collection to composting and spreading with her Conestoga Manure Spreader.
“It makes a non-glamorous thing glamorous. It’s clean, efficient… and sexy.”
What began as a hesitant, sight-unseen purchase quickly proved to be a game-changing decision. Maria and her foreman now use the Tow and Collect 1220 several times a week, clearing manure and even stray debris like twigs across multiple pastures.
“It was the best Christmas present I’ve ever gotten!”
The results were immediate and impressive. “What used to take three hours to do by hand and about an hour and a half with the previous machine now takes just 17 minutes.” “The Tow and Collect effectively picks up manure from alpacas, sheep, goats, and even pigs, ensuring a thorough cleanup in just one pass.”
For Marcella, a horse owner in North Carolina, keeping her small three-acre farm clean was becoming a time-consuming challenge. With two horses on her property, manure management was a daily task that quickly lost its appeal.
The best thing about my Tow and Collect is that I don’t have to think about manure anymore. It’s been wonderful for me, and honestly, I would not have horses without it.”
We sit down with Len Smith from the beautiful Grand Blanc Huntsman’s Club to talk about their Tow and Collect 1500 Pro and how they have found it since purchasing the model a year ago. The 1500 Pro has been a huge help in assisting them to clean the broken targets and shotgun wads on their skeet and sporting clay fields.
“Regular removal of manure from pastures is one of the most effective, low-cost strategies for reducing internal parasite burdens in horses, and something we recommend to all our clients.
By removing manure at least twice a week, you interrupt the parasite life cycle before larvae can develop and spread. This simple habit greatly reduces reinfection rates.”

The Tow and Collect 1220 is a great addition to our farm! We spent hours hand mucking the paddocks and then when we couldn't keep up we would havw to come in the skid steer and scoop things up ultimately digging up the ground of the paddock and much less precise than we preferred.
We can spin around and have the paddocks for 6 horses cleaned up in about 2 hrs a week! Much faster than hand mucking! The amount of flies are noticeably less, truly . We started on one end of our farm with 4 horses and were getting the hang of it over there for about a month before using on the other end as well, during that time the difference in flies was very noticeable as the other end of the farm where we were hand mucking and using the skid steer still had many more flies (even though we were using feed through fly control).
From a practical perspective we do still need to rake away from the fence as this cannot get right up to the fence. We have a couple horses that favor going pooh right on the fence 🙁 if you have a square corner in your paddock or pasture then you will need to hand-muck a portion of the corners as you just can't get right up there given turning radius and so forth, but can minimize that, especially if your horses just dont go pooh there.
It does create quite a dust storm if it has been dry and you are sweeping in a dirt only paddock or one that has not grown back in yet. A solution for us has been to use the tow and collect when the ground is still a bit wet after a rain, not soaking wet but maybe a little damp as it keeps the dust down and helps with collection of manure.
It is important to pay attention to your chain tension and adjust as needed, you dont want too much slack in your chain or you can do damage to your machine (which I learned the hard way).
We chose a manual/non-motarized option so as yo not have an additional maintenance required. It works great, although it might be nice to have slightly larger capacity that the motorized version offers but this capacity honestly works fine for us.
All in, I am extremely pleased with the lower amount of flies, the cleaner paddocks and the amount of time is has saved. I own a business and have 2 very young children and we manage our property ourselves so "spare time" is not a thing for us. We absolutely needed something to help us be more efficient in our maintenance and this is absolutely the best thing!
Bought my 1500 pro last year, I wanted to wait to review until i had a significant amount of time using it. After a small learning curve, I cant say enough good things about it. easy to operate, picks up all the horse manure in one pass. easy to adjust and dump... A++++++
Delivery was perfect, and 2 days ahead of schedule.
The machine is a masterpiece. Assembly was straight-forward.
I had to learn Australian to fully understand the videos :), but no doubt this has been a great experience.
We have had our Tow and Collect for numerous years. It's purpose on our farm is to do the spring clean up after winter. We cover 30 acres with 20 horses and get the manure situation under control in a matter of days. It is an essential tool for spring cleaning. We have replaced brushes on it and the motor over the years. Discovered that using Rec fuel gives it better engine life, though.
Excellent, saves hours of time and well crafted.
a big time saver cleaning our alpaca pastures. been using it for 8 years with no issues and only now needing to replace parts.
We're proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Tryon International Spring Three Day Event!
